There's something about a sycamore tree in the winter. The distinctive bark really stands out against the background. These three trees stand along Ramsey's Run Creek in the First State National Monument. The creek flows into the Brandywine River a few hundred yards to the left of where this was painted.
There is a fair amount of old growth forest back in the Woodlawn Tract area of the park. Some of the biggest Tulip Poplars in the country are back there - absolutely massive trees. Lots of Beech trees as well, along with a large number of sycamores along all of the streams.
The painting is twelve inches wide by sixteen inches tall. It is an oil on a board.
