This is a large four-piece painting (quadratych???) of one of my favorite farms on Wawaset Road near Marshallton, Pennsylvania. I didn't know this until recently, but Wawaset was the Lenape Indian name for the Brandywine River. My source for that tidbit is an excellent book, The Brandywine, An Intimate Portrait by W. Barksdale Maynard.
Appropriately enough, the farm lies between the two branches of the Brandywine, just before they join a mile or so south of here.
Each of the four canvasses are twenty inches wide by twenty inches tall. They are intended to be mounted with a space of about one inch between them. Thus, the entire work is about forty-one inches square. The canvasses are gallery wrapped, so no framing is necessary.
There is a smaller version of two of these panels available in this shop as well, called Wawaset Farm Study.
