This is a 1972 Chevrolet C50 pickup / dump truck. It is sitting in a garage or large shed at Kuerner's farm in Chadds Ford, Pennsylvania. Andrew Wyeth painted this farm and its people hundreds of times, but I'm not sure he ever got around to the Chevy.
This truck has been sitting here a long time. Pennsylvanians will note that the license is absolutely retro...Keystone State. Older than "You've Got A Friend In..." or the current iteration with the 35-character URL stamped on it: "WWW.State.US.PA.Gov" or something. The last registration tag is from 1987.
I painted this in "spring". Well, it was late March, anyway. But temps were in the 30's, it was heavily overcast, and snow flurries were falling. I was happy for the clouds, because the truck seemed to dissolve into the darkness of the garage.
The painting is ten inches wide by ten inches tall. It is an oil on a board. It was painted on-site, en plein air. (no extra charge for the frostbite).
